I'm not a full-time writer, and I do work outside of the home now, but I spent many years working out of my home and I never did learn to maintain any balance in my life. I guess I became a work-a-holic! I didn't think anything of it then, but now if I worked at home I would be strict about setting regular hours.

I hear you, Diane. I don't think most writers know just how much time goes in to promoting and other "writer related" stuff until you publish. It's never-ending.

I enjoy doing most of it, but it does take up a lot of time. I'm still trying to figure out how to find balance. I wonder if anyone ever does.

It's hard being a writer and maintaining any kind of a normal life. One thing is I'd like to skip the promoting and write. I never realized how much time published authors spent on marketing until I became one.

I feel guilty if I neglect family stuff and write. It's very hard to find a balance - I think I need more hours in a day. :)

You sound like you are on the right track NJ. I see you posting all over the place, and I have often wondered how you manage to do it.
With my at home, on the pc, volunteer job where I am starting to feel a bit swamped and wondering how to handle it. Luckily I am still an addicted reader, and still loving it. My problem is one of finding the time for reading.

Good luck NJ on sticking with your new plans. I hope it works out well for you. We don't want you burning out on us.
