HOW MUCH FRIGHT CAN YOU TAKE?

Some of us enjoy being frightened.  This Halloween we’ll seek out scary movies, enjoy tours of haunted houses and laugh when someone jumps out of a dark corner to say “Boo!”
Not so with my heroine in FADEOUT, who has syncope, a fainting disorder.  When she is startled or frightened she might crumple to the floor, no matter how much she wants to stay standing.
Jan has one type of fainting disorder, Vasovagal syncope, set off by stress or fright or standing in one place too long.  Fainting at the sight of blood is also Vasovagal syncope.   Another type, Carotid sinus syncope comes on from constriction of the neck, causing the squeezing of the carotid artery.  The third type, Situational Syncope comes with the strain caused by coughing, going to the bathroom or intestinal issues.
Humans aren’t the only fainters.  Many of you have seen the U-Tube of the myotonic goats who tense up and keel over when they are spooked.  In case you haven’t seen it lately, here’s a link to information about fainting goats and the U-Tube video.  http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/life/zoology/mammals/fainting-goat.htm
You’ll be interested to discover in this article, that farmers purposefully breed goats that faint.  Truth is you’ll find fainters in many species of animals.
Wouldn’t you know that Jan Solvang, my heroine in FADEOUT, must serve as a boutique funeral planner for clients who refuse to rest in peace.  Talk about the wrong profession for a woman with syncope!  You’ll find out why she took the job when you read FADEOUT.
BLURB for FADEOUT by Rolynn Anderson:
Jan Solvang has spent her life avoiding conflict and commitment. Six months ago, she left a marriage proposal and a job in Seattle to care for her dying mother. Now she's stuck with her mother's California house and her mother's dog, filling her mother's shoes as a memorial planner with her estranged father.

Roman Keller thrives on conflict, writing documentaries that reveal the flaws of the famous. Jan’s challenge is to help him write a positive eulogy for a grandfather he disliked, but Roman is more interested in her other client: a powerful attorney with a dark past his family wants buried with him. If Jan stands behind the family and Roman goes for the exposé, who’s in danger and who wins?

The tension between them pulls tighter as each discovers the other is keeping secrets.  But if they tell the truth, will they destroy any chance for love?

Halloween is a busy time, isn't it? I'd love to hear what frightens you to the point of fainting. Thanks for reading my post! Rolynn
