Fun with a new life

Well, we moved -- I can finally say we are settled in. The actual move took place at the end of July and I've spent most of August unpacking and finding my way around the new town.

I promised myself that on Sept. 1 I would start new habits and get back into the writing groove. This is the longest hiatus I've ever had from writing since I was published, which is 5 years ago now. I look around my home office at all the book covers and I'm proud of what I've done: 25 books (3 of those are re-releases, but they took some editing and some time, so I count those as "new").

What will the future hold? I have no idea -- and that's interesting. I don't have any pending contracts. I'm going to try the indie publishing route for a few books and see where that takes me. Given how publishing is changing now, it's a sure bet that in a few months, I may change my mind. This is a time of amazing flux in the publishing world, a true upheaval and I think we're just at the beginning of the tide of change. I'll ride with it for a while and see where it takes me.

In the meantime, I'd like to introduce you to three of my indie books: the History Patrol series, all about reincarnation, romance, second chances in life, and time travel -- toss in telepathic animals, shape-shifters, and a few villains (John Dillinger, Jessie James, and a mad scientist) and you know I had fun writing these!

This fall I'll be returning to my mysteries: I have 3 ready to publish, I have one to edit, and one to finish. Then I'll see what strikes my fancy in the wintertime ... another time travel book? Work on my sci-fi series?

Only time will tell!
