Promises

I'm a firm believer that you never make a promise you don't intend to keep. Therefore I think long and hard before using that word. When my daughter was growing up I used it sparingly because there's nothing worse than saying, "I promise" and not keeping it. Especially to a child. I don't know why I feel so strongly about that. I can't recall if I had promises made to me that weren't kept.

In The Promise, my first release with Liquid Silver Books, both the hero and heroine have made a promise to the same man. He's killed in Iraq and now the promise has to be kept. The hero, Ryan, is reluctant to keep it because it means taking care of his brother's widow, who he's been secretly in love with for years. For the heroine, Shannon, she promises her husband that if anything happens to him in Iraq that she'll go on.

The story takes place on a Vermont farm during the holiday season. Where the whole family has gathered to celebrate.

Recently this book received 5 ravens and recommended read from Blackraven's Reviews! And I hope you'll take a moment to check it out.

Blurb-
Shannon Hayes' husband David was killed in Iraq nearly a year ago, and now she must face her first holiday season without him. With a toddler in tow, she travels to the Vermont farm where the rest of the family has gathered for the holidays. There she comes face to face with the man who was with him when he died, and her destiny, his older brother Ryan.

For the first time in years, Ryan returns home to keep a promise he made to David -- to take care of Shannon and their daughter. It's a pledge Ryan is reluctant to keep because he's been secretly in love with Shannon since first setting eyes on her. Their attraction to each other is instant, intense and soon the promise isn't the only thing between them.
