Even when it's my series, nothing turns out exactly as planned and there are always some surprises, whether it's a secondary character who gets a stronger voice or a moment when the plot takes a slightly different turn than I'd originally planned.
The beginning of a series is filled with excitement, expectations and a little anxiety. In the middle of the journey there's a point when the end still seems far off, but when it finally comes, it often seems too soon. It's not easy to put aside characters you've worked with or read about for months or years.
Fortunately there is no end to your imagination, so in a way the characters can go on in your mind once the series is over. When I read a series I love, the characters stay with me and once their story ends I sometimes think about what happened to them afterward.
How do you feel about series books?
About Kate Hill
What do trips around the world, endless nights of breathtaking sex, and a muscular, 6-foot 3-inch, brown-haired, blue-eyed significant other have to do with Kate Hill? Absolutely nothing, but she can dream, can't she? In reality Kate is a single vegetarian New Englander who loves writing romantic fantasies.
When she's not working on her books, Kate enjoys reading, working out, and researching vampires and Viking history. Visit Kate online at http://www.kate-hill.com. Read an excerpt from her novella, Cactus Juice, at http://www.kate-hill.com/cactusjuice.html.
