I love summer. My kids are home and we spend a ton of time at the pool. It helps alleviate the 115 degree weather here in Arizona.
Summer also means I get a break from school - no more homework :)
I have more time for reading, and writing, and just lounging about. The kids’ extracurricular activities are slimmed down - in fact, I’ll only have 1 weekly event. Everything else is sporadic.
Plus, I’m getting a much needed mom weekend - three full days with friends. No kids, no distractions, no responsibilities. We’re going to go up the mountain to the cool weather and do nothing but write.
Hopefully, I can get the hubby to take a week off sometime so we can go on a family vacation, too. We usually try, but this summer, my kids are starting to have responsibilities - my oldest is beginning his lifeguard internship so in a couple years he can become a lifeguard at the public swimming pools.
Summer is a time of recharging for me. It’s when I get to spend a lot more time with my kids, relaxing rather than rushing to the next ‘thing’.
And I get to concentrate on writing :)
So, Q4U:
What does summer mean to you?
