A fresh slate whether I want it or not

In the waning days of 2010 (two days before Christmas, to be precise) my web site vanished.

Apparently the company hosting it discovered that they had erroneously allowed me to host it there without purchasing other corporate goodies (that cost $$$). So my web site went away. I hurriedly redirected the URL to my blog (which is not a web site) and I slapped a few pages together to give it the 'feel' of a web site, but ... it ain't a web site.

Now, this isn't an earth-shaking thing. I have an active presence on Yahoo groups, Facebook, Twitter, etc., so my web site was more of a parked web presence. And I meant to redesign it ... when I had time. So now I have to redesign it. In fact, now I have to redo the entire thing from the ground up. I still have the files and the artwork, etc., but I have to find a new venue, a new way to update things, a new web designer ... All things I meant to do someday but now that day is, well, now.

Of course, right now I have other things I should do, like promote my current book, finish the book I'm writing, do galley proofs on another book, do final edits on another, approve cover art for another ... a web site redesign was waaayyyy down on my To Do List.
Now it's at the top.

Isn't this just how it happens sometimes? The things you think you can postpone (a doctor's appointment, a web site design, a phone call) can come back to bite you in the butt when you least expect it.
This helps reinforce my new philosophy for 2011: I'm not going to make resolutions, I'm going to make goals. Here they are:
  1. Roll with it. Don't worry about it. It'll get done eventually.
  2. Make some goals for writing for 2011. See goal 1 if they don't pan out.
  3. Enjoy life. This is not a rehearsal.

So expect a new web site in a month or so. Expect some promo (oh! it's right here). And expect to see me having some fun this year. I'm just going to roll with it.

PROMO

The last book in my New Human series releases on Friday (Leap of Faith). It's all about Dru Delaney, a planetary leader, and her tussles with Jak Exo, her ex-lover, ex-friend, and a machine-human hybrid. If she can learn to trust Jak again, she might save her planet and her heart. And if she doesn't, a lot of people will die ... including Dru.

Check my web site (argh!) on release date for details. Go to http://www.jayellwilson.com. I'll put something there to direct you to more information.

Really. I will.
