Christmas Crazies

My mom is a Christmas crazy. It is HER holiday, and she celebrates it like no one I have ever met. She has Christmas everything from broiler covers to light bulbs. Every day in December has something planned and the day itself... well... it is scheduled from the 5 a.m. start to the midnight crash. I have a list of presents that I absolutely must get her for Christmas every year (which makes gift buying easy). I have a reindeer sweater she expects me to wear. I even have matching reindeer socks.

I enjoy my mom's Christmases, and I usually go to her home to share them with her. In fact, this is the first year, I won't be going home, and I'm feeling a little lost.

You see... I don't really do the Christmas thing on my own. My mom is so overboard that I compensate by having a Christmas-free zone. I exchange presents, yes, but I don't decorate, I don't put a tree up (though I have one in the basement somewhere), I don't bake, or own a single Christmas movie or album.

It'll be interesting to see what I'll do this year. I'm already watched a couple of Christmas movies on TV. I'll likely wear my reindeer sweater and socks. Will I put the tree up? I don't know.
