An Alternate Universe

It is time to start a new book. This one will be dark fantasy romance. Pax is a New York city police detective hunting a serial killer with his partner. What Pax doesn’t know is that the man he is hunting is an evil wizard from an alternate universe. Cornering the wizard in a dark alley, yelling for backup, Pax gets sucked into the alternate universe when the wizard goes home. One should never stand too close when a portal is being opened. You just never know what could happen to you.

On the other side of the portal is Anjali. She is a police detective in her world. (Some in my plot group think she should be a doctor. The wizard is killing people in both universes and in her universe, the powers-that-be think the people are dying from some strange disease.) Anjali has been tracing the wizard and is waiting for him to come through. Instead, she ends up with Pax.

And that is just the beginning.

I am still working on the world that Anjali lives in. Her world is full of magic and I have to decide what powers she has.

At the beginning of any story, there are more unanswered questions than answered ones. It takes awhile to get to know who these people are and what goals they have. They both want to catch the evil wizard, but they have to have some other personal goal. Also, the wizard has to have a reason to be killing people. What is he getting out of all of this? It has to be something really important if he is traveling between universes and killing people in both.

I do know that when he kills someone, the body is decimated. That should work for dark fantasy. Of course, Pax and Anjali have to fall in love. After all, it is a romance.

And hopefully, it will not take as long to write as Sam’s story did.
