Have a Great Holiday

By Janet Quinn

Happy Holidays and a great New Year.

Christmas is only a few days away and of course I am not ready. Have the shopping done, but not the wrapping. The decorating is done except for my village. Rob, my youngest, couldn’t find where he put the box of buildings in the garage. The cards are all mailed.

Most of the cleaning is done. Rob helped today. Jessi and Michael are coming over on Thursday to finish. Certain things I can’t do because of my back, like mop the floor and run the vacuum. Jessi wants to bring her mother for the day so I told her she had to come help me clean.

I got a bit behind because I decided to finish Sam’s story, officially called Freedom’s Treasure. I had given my sister all but the last chapter on Thanksgiving, but she won’t read it until she has it all and I want her to bring it back Christmas day. I mailed off the last chapter and she has read and marked it up. She marks my typos, grammar mistakes, spelling mistakes and holes in the story. She only found one hole. I will put the finishing touches on the story after Christmas and send it off to Amber Quill. The first of the year I plan to start two new projects.

I have been to several Christmas parties during the season. One Sunday we went to brunch at the Mission Inn which is a very old hotel in Riverside, CA. I have never seen so much food set out in one place. There was no way to taste even a portion of it.

I convinced Michael that he and Jessi wanted to pick me up since I hate driving to Riverside. That was all good. He stopped in the valet parking to drop me off so I didn’t have to walk so far. Jessi was helping me out of the back seat when Michael took off. He ran over the back of my shoe. Luckily I had on sandals. My shoe was trapped under the wheel of the car and my foot was pushed as far to the side as the strap was going to let it go. Jessi was screaming at him. He had to back the car up to get my shoe loose. Of course, I spent the rest of the day giving him a hard time and telling anyone who would listen. He still doesn’t really find it funny. Since I only had a bruise and a sore ankle, it could be funny. His step-mother kept telling me to say he tried to run me down since that is a felony. (She’s a 911 operator.)

The rest of the day was great but it is really hard to limp on two feet.

Everyone enjoy your holiday and have a safe one. Watch out for wayward tires.
