The Romance Studio Diva Contest

Diva: A female opera star. Translated into "goddess"; may imply a demanding or high-strung star.

The Romance Studio is having its first TRS Diva Contest, and I’m competing. I’m not an opera singer nor do I think I’m high strung *G* though my kids and hubby may differ.

I refer to my kitty as Diva Kitty all the time. Yes, she definitely thinks she’s a goddess. I think it’s a part of being a cat. Cats have that inner flair that gives them confidence, no matter what else is going on

Writers, for the most part, live a lonely existence. We sit and we pound on the keyboard, talking to our characters and living in the worlds we create. Lots of fun, but some of us don’t get out much. I once heard an author describe a writing conference as a bunch of introverts trying to pretend they are extroverts for a few days. We’re not like opera singers in that we don’t advertise ourselves out there on stage, fully in front of an audience.

Until now.

I’ll admit, I thought the TRS Diva Contest sounded like fun. It’s why I chose to put my hat in the ring. It was a challenge to put myself out there and say “Look at me! Look at me!” Which I’ve had trouble learning to do as an author.

No matter where I place in the rounds, I’m definitely finding my inner diva. That confidence that comes from within because, so far, it's been a lot of fun. Maybe I’ll find that inner flair, too, before I’m eliminated in the contest rounds.

To vote in Round 2 of the contest.
